Book Review - Leave Me Alone - Vera Brosgol

Leave Me Alone, a 2017 Caldecott Honor Selection book, is imaginative, math-friendly reading for children ages 2 to 6 years old. One day, a grandmother finally shouts, “Leave Me Alone!” and leaves her tiny home and her very large rambunctious family. She absolutely must find peace and quiet to finish her knitting for her many grandchildren. Along her quest, she encounters ravenous bears, obnoxious goats, and even a horde of earless aliens! Count all the children in the book as a bonus math activity and then check out our blog Support Your Child’s Tinkering - It's Full STEAM Ahead for more understanding of how your little one’s creative play supports engineering and science learning. Then, pretend to be aliens like in the book and make your own fantastic hats with our Mad Hatters or Plastic Space Bottle Helmets activities.

How far must this grandmother travel to accomplish her goal? Find the answer in Leave Me Alone right here on Amazon. You can learn more about the American Library Association’s Caldecott award for distinguished American picture books for children and its winners here.
